is there a train from Lake Como to Switzerland for a day trip?r
Where on Lake Como? Trains run switzErland on both sides of the lake. On the west side, they stop in the town of Como ( Como San Giovanni is the station) and go to Lucerne or Zurich if you want to go that far. On the east side, they stop in Varenna. Head north to Tirano and change trains to the Bernina Express route. You could ride to the top of the pass, get off, and take a train back.
We are also passing through Tirano from Cortina. I guess it would be better to board a train in Tirano? Can we do a day trip? Where would be the best place to stop for lunch and then come back to Tirano?
Looks like the Bernia Express would be nice. We are traveling early April.
Are you staying in Lake Como? There is a train run between Tirano and Varenna that takes 90 minutes.
