Have a short "free evening" during our Viking River Cruise and want to know the best way to get from Koblenz, Germany to Worms, Germany; what length of time does it take to travel between cities? Is there a train or a personal car?
Look it up on http://www.bahn.de/
Approximately 1 train per hour, taking just under 2 hours. Last train back: depart Worms Hbf 21:25, arrive Koblenz Hbf 23:11. It will take just as long by road.
In my book too far for an evening excursion. Koblenz is a nice place to spend a free evening. If you are on a Rhine cruise, you will probably be going past Worms anyway.
And despite it's historical significance, Worms today is a rather modern, uninteresting city. You can do much better near Koblenz.
I agree, too much to see closer to Koblenz to go all the way to Worms, but if you have to, there are Regional Express connections from Koblenz to Worms that take 1h 37m with a change of trains in Mainz. You can do this round trip with a Rheinland-Pfalz-Ticket (day pass) for 23€ first person, 4€ each added person up to five, total.
