I am traveling with 5 other people and am wondering if it would be ok to buy the train tickets at the Hendaye station rather than reserving it beforehand. Thanks you.

If you wait until you get to the station, you won't have any trouble getting tickets. However, you'll pay full fare (€94.00) for a 2nd class ticket. If you book ASAP (up to three months allowed) at tgv-europe.com, you can get a Prem's fare as low as €25.00. Discount fare tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. Be sure you can commit before booking.
