Train from Germany to NL and back.

All the train sites online I can find will only give me route information, and no ticket prices. I just want to know what the cost of a ticket from Gelnhausen, Germany to Tilburg, NL and back would be. The only Eurail option is Germany-Benelux combo, which is like $350...the basic ticket price for a round trip has to be cheaper than that. Thanks in advance.

Try Deutsche Bahn website. They are showing prices depending on train and day of your travel. I just checked.

I looked on their site..no fares listed for me. If you want to look, maybe you can find for me? I would leave 21/8/12 from Gelnhausen to Tilburg, then return 23/8/12 from Tilburg to Gelnhausen. Anything would be helpful...but again, I just want to know a range of the prices, knowing it has to be under the $350 for the Eurail pass. Thanks again.

It's usually not possible to see fares that far in advance, as booking usually only opens 3 or 4 months ahead. Try a closer date with the same days of the week for a guide.

OK, I'll do the work for you... Pluging in random dates, one-way tickets vary from as high as €117 to as low as €44 for advanced purchase discounts.

On the Deutsche Bahn website, which is what you should be using to find trains, you cannnot see prices until 90 days before your trip. That said, I just looked up prices for 90 days from today and one way is 44 euro, with 2 train changes. The trip will take about 5.5 hours. So, add it together and you have 88 euro round trip, which is a darn sight better than $350 with Rail Europe

That €44 price is for a train specific, non-refundable Europa-Spezial ticket. Those start at €39; I found €39 for May 3. If you see €44, the lowest price tickets have already sold out. But even full fare on the fastest trains is only €81,20 to €117. So there is no way the rail pass would be less. As Jo said, you should be looking on the German Rail (Bahn) website.

Thanks everyone for the info, and I've bookmarked the Deutsche Bahn site. Tom, again, thanks for that...you've helped me in a couple posts before. Danke!
