Train from CT to Paris

Don't know if this is even possible as a direct train; however, need help with details on train schedules from CT going to Paris; how long a trip, approximate cost and do I simply purchase train tix there at time of departure? Would prefer not to travel overnight as I understand this is more expensive.

Hi Maria. Two options would be connect in Milan ( 3 hours plus 7 hours) or in Nice (5 hours plus 6.5 hours). Price would be roughly $100 - $200 per person depending on how far in advance you purchased. See Travel Tips section on this site for train info.

Maria, it is not possible wih a direct train. Runs between the CT and Paris vary wildly on journey time depending on which run or route you . At minimum, you are looking at an 11.0hr journey with 3 train changes. At worst, it's 18.5hrs with 3 train changes. The fares are about 122E. I've attached a link so you can see the train runs. http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/nppPriceTravelSolutions.do?stazin=Vernazza&stazout=Paris+%28city%29&datag=30&datam=03&dataa=2011&timsh=07&timsm=00&car=0&stazin_r=Staz_DA&stazout_r=Staz_A&datag_r=01&datam_r=01&dataa_r=2011&timsh_r=01&timsm_r=00&trencounter=0&nreq=5&solotreno=0&npag=1&sort=0&trencounter_r=0&nreq_r=5&solotreno_r=0&npag_r=1&sort_r=0&traintype=&traintype=&lang=en&channel=tcom I suspect from your message last month that you are doing a tour of Southern France and that you will be flying home out of Paris. It looks like you are trying to stretch your trip to include the CT from Southern France. If I am correct, the CT is quite a stretch given the train travel time.

If you book well in advance at www.trenitalia.com, you can get a Moove fare of €55.00 for a bunk in a four-person couchette on the direct Milan-Paris night train. (Note that people often have trouble getting Trenitalia to accept US credit cards online. They work fine at Italian train stations.) The fare for a regional train from Vernazza to Milan is €12.70.

Thanks to all for your response! Doesn't look like departure from Paris is feasible so I'm going to visit the Cinque Terre and then depart from Milan - which I understand is about a 6hour train trip? If you know of any other form of transportation to Milan from the CT (including time entailed) please do enlighten me! :)
