Train from Ciampino to Spanish Steps

I tried to get a taxi from Ciampino Airport to my hotel near the Spanish Steps. The driver told me it would be at least 55 euro. I told him the prices were fixed and pointed to the sign on his door. With that I was in the middle of an argument with all 5 cab drivers who were at the queue. They flatly refused to take me for less than 45 euros. I told the forget it and took a bus. My question; how do I file a complaint and would it do any good? Thanks.

The good it will do will be your own satisfaction. The other satisfaction is that you saved yourself about 45 euro by taking the bus.

Andrew, I agree with Sam. With the way bureaucracy works in Italy, filing a complaint will be futile, and not worth the time or effort. It will likely disappear into a "black hole", never to be seen again. Cheers!

The taxi flat fare from Ciampino to the city center (inside the Aurelian Walls) is imposed by the City of Rome and is 30 euro. Those taxi drivers tried to make a quick buck at your expense, probably because they can get away with those who come from abroad. Unfortunately filing a complaint with any customer service in Italy is waste of time. Whether it's a car rental company or a taxi cooperative (all taxi drivers in Italy are owners associated in a cooperative) or many other businesses, customer service in Italy is for the most part a big joke. Welcome to Italy. The land of unethical crooks (I'm Italian and I have the constitutional right to say so).
