Train from Brussels to Amsterdam

Can anyone tell me what the easiest/cheapest train to take would be from Brussels to A-dam? I know thw Thalys runs that way but my rail pass doesn't fully cover me on it. Alos, how hard is is it to get train tickets on the same day at the station? Thanks!

A regular intercity train runs every hour or so. We had no trouble at all showing up that morning, buying tickets, and hop on the train. It's a nice ride, I don't see any need to splurge for the Thalys for a relatively short ride (around 3 hours). the website of the Belgian railway is excellent and should help you too. :)

Bus is cheap, Google: Eurolines; intercity trains Google: www.ns.nl for Dutch intercity trains, or the Belgian site a previous poster mentioned. With the right pass, the intercity shouldn't cost you anything but you may wish to save pass 'days' for longer or more expensive trips.
