Train from Brugge to Amsyerdam with a few hours in Antwerp

We are taking a train from Brugge to Amsterdam the second week of August. We would like to stop in Antwerp for a few hours. Which train lines would you suggest and how would I do this?
Thanks for the help!

There are direct trains from Bruges to Antwerp every 30 minutes. No advance reservations are required, simply purchase your ticket at the station on the day of your journey.

Thank you for your quick reply. One more question. What about Paris to Brugge. I believe the best route is Paris to Brussels then to Brugge. If I understand correctly, If I purchase a ticket with reservation on the Thalys I can then use thesame ticket to go on to Brugge on a differnt line. The cost was $72.00. Is this the best option? Many Thanks!

$72 is way too expensive, but mid-August is hell on Earth in terms of high-season, so it's kinda expected. Some Thalys tickets allow you to catch any Belgium domestic train, some don't. Beware to check it. I'd also recommend you using Thalys to travel between Antwerpen and Amsterdam. The IC trains that don't require reservation (and take 1h longer) have been very unreliable in this route, with scheduled cancellations over August.
