Train from Bruges to Munich using Eurail pass

hi there - I have been researching catching a train from Bruges to Munich and am slightly confused about it all. I will have a Eurail pass to use but wondered if the 7pm rule would apply on this route if it isn't a direct ride? From what I can find I have to travel from Bruges (22.35) - Bruxelles - Hannover Hbf - München Hbf (10.42). Has anyone done an easier route than that one and will that all count as one day? Any suggestions welcomed! This is my first time using a eurail pass and it feels a little daunting.

Thank you!

Yes the 7pm rule applies. Be sure just before you board the train you enter the next day on your Eurail Pass. For example: ENTER 30/07/07 if you leave Brugges on July 29, 2007.

Reservatons are require on the night train.

Since the Bruges-Bruxelles leg will be completed before midnight, I think you'll use TWO pass days for your whole route. The "7:00 p.m. rule" would apply if you were starting from Bruxelles since the Bruxelles-Hannover leg is a direct night train. At least that's how I read the following quote from Rick Steves:

"A railpass day normally runs from midnight to midnight, but a direct overnight train or boat journey uses up only one of your travel days if you board after 7 p.m. (this is known as the '7 p.m. rule'). In that case, you just write the next day's date on your flexipass."

Adding to my previous post. If I'm correct, then I have a suggestion on how you can use save a pass day. Simply buy a regular ticket for Bruges-Bruxelles. Then use the "7:00 p.m. rule" for the rest of the way to Munich.

yeah, that is what I was worried about and have no clue how to actually clarify that before getting there. I wonder if we just paid for the Bruge - Bruxelles leg and then used our pass for the rest, that might fix it altogether. What would be perfect is if there is anyone who has actually done it!!!

Anyone....?!!!

thank you!
