Train from Bruges to Mont St Michele & St. Michele to Paris

Just working on an itinerary and am a little unsure the best way to do this leg of our trip. We will be in Bruges, with the original plan to go from Bruges to Paris. I am thinking now of going from Bruges to Mont St Michele, staying overnight, then head from there to Paris. How difficult is this? How close does the train get to Mont St. Michele? Thanks!

Wade, You'd pretty much have to go through Paris to get to MSM by train from Bruges. However you could take the train to Lille and rent a car. Use it to get to MSM (and maybe visit other places in Normandy), return it in Rennes, and take the train to Paris.
