In 1 week we will be staying overnight in Bonn, Germany and wanting to get to Bacharach early the next morning. I checked on the RailEurope site and they only listed one trip in the afternoon. Does anyone know if there is local rail service from Bonn to Bacharach. Are there any other options? Thanks.
Never use Rail Europe. They only display the trains they sell tickets to. Instead use the German Rail site:
According to that site there are departures every 10 minutes or so. You can purchase tickets directly from the DB site, but you shouldn't have any problems purchasing tickets on the day of your journey.
Thanks so much Michael. That is such a relief!! I will change my rail site for sure.
Michael, how about Austria, Switzerland, and Czech Republic? We are going there too. Are there better sites than Rail Europe?
The DB site will work for most all of Europe's train systems. But for Switzerland I prefer to use the Swiss Rail site:

Michael, thanks again.
Maria: Ride the regional trains on a "Rheinland Pfalz" ticket - a daypass you can buy for 27 Euros from a ticket machine in Bonn. Regular fares will run you about 40 Euros otherwise.
The regional trains can found by checking the "only local transport" option at http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en.
Russ, thanks so much for the further information. I figured there had to be more than what I was seeing with Rail Europe.
Russ,
how does this work? Bonn is in Nordrhein-Westfalen and Bacharach in Rheinland-Pfalz.
Beatrix: Certain connecting stations that lie outside Rheinland Pfalz are covered by the RP ticket, making the following segments part of the network:
Au (Sieg) – Siegen, Au (Sieg) – Limburg (Lahn), Koblenz – Wiesbaden Hbf, Rolandseck – Bonn Hbf, Koblenz – Limburg (Lahn), Siershahn – Limburg (Lahn), Mainz – Wiesbaden Hbf, Ludwigshafen – Mannheim Hbf, Wörth (Rhein) – Karlsruhe Hbf, Mannheim Hbf – Graben-Neudorf – Karlsruhe, Germersheim – Graben-Neudorf, Winden (Pfalz) – Wissembourg (Frankr.), Wörth (Rhein) – Lauterbourg (Frankr.)
