Has anyone taken the train from Lesce Bled station to Villach, Austria, and on to Bolzano? The DB site shows the route, but I have concerns about purchasing tickets. Is there another suggestion for making that trip? Any advice will be appreciated.

The only way you can get ticket for Bled to Bolzano from German Rail is to find a route through Germany. Otherwise, look on the Austrian Rail website, www.oebb.at.

You should consider looking up from Ljubjana instead of lasce bled, and you may want to take a bus from bled to LJU first. Lesce bled train station is tiny, so you're likely to change at least twice (may be more) to get to Austria, and one of the stop will be LJU. If you have to change in a no name station and if train is late, then you'll have a problem. The bus station at LJU is next door to the train station, and I think the earliest bus from bled to LJU is like 6 or so (double check at the hotel for holiday schedules).

While you cannot book tickets online on the DB site for this route, you can do so by phoning the German Rail call centre in the UK. Dial 011 (US international access code) + 44 (country code for the UK) + 8718 80 80 66.
