the train from avignon to aix is uder an hour and its tgv. does anyone know if reservations are required?

thanks steve; one more question. we - stupidly - booked an early morning tgv reservation from gare montparnasse to rennes (going to mont st m.)6:30 am earlt=y. now that we are here in paris and unable to get out of bed before 8, we realize that was a mistake. my question is would you foresee any problems going to gare montparnass later - tues june 8 and trying to get a res on the noon or 2pm tgv. in other words, any ideas on whether tey fill up?
