We're taking the train from Amsterdam to London, and back again before we go home. I see First Class is twice the price over Second Class. Has anyone here traveled by First Class and is it worth it in your opinion? Other than a free meal, what else is there? More legroom I would expect, but we're not tall so we don't need it. More space at the end of the car for luggage? With less people in the car I'd expect that, but we won't have much luggage either. Thanks for your responses!
If the segment from Amsterdam to Brussels is on the Thalys train, you get a bit more seat space, beverage service, light meal, and free WiFi.
Thanks Michael, free wifi might be nice, would give us time to send a few emails off while in the train.
All my travel on Europe trains has been first class only because I used a eurail pass and had no choice. I do wander around on the trains and have spent time in second class striking up conversations with people other than tourists( which seem to predominate in first class) Like Rick says, the people in second class are going the same speed as you, and will get to their destination the same time as you...lol...for double the price it's simply not worth it IMHO...go second class and mix with the locals, you'll have a better chance of making "connections "with people and save yourself a pile of cash to boot...
On the Eurostar portion between Brussels and London the classes have changed again so my information may be slightly off. The first class has been split to sorta first and super first. Only in super first now are hot meals served. The sorta first (can't remember the real name) only has cold meals now. I used to go first when the trips were longer and the food good. Now I go second.
