I want to take the train after seeing Alhambra to Barcelona. What is the best (quickest) city to leave from, e.g., Granada, Malaga, Seville, Cordoba)? Thanks Ray
Very surprised you do not know the Alhambra is in Granada.
I know it is but that is not my question
I guess I don't understand the question either. If you want to go to Barcelona after seeing the Alhambra, then you would have to leave from Granada or a bus to Malaga and leave from there. Make no sense to back track to Seville or Cordoba. Granada is not well served by trains.
Presumably you do not have train schedules - http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html You may want to do the maths. but I strongly doubt several hours bus or train journey to elsewhere from Granada will improve matters. The bus company between all cities in the vicinity is www.alsa.es It is not what you asked but with only three train journeys a day and a not less than seven and a half hours train journey direct from Granada, consider a flight.
i have taken the hotel night train from barcelona to granada. you can do the same in reverse. i was in first class and enjoyed a room with shower. the service and meals both dinner and breakfast were excellent. price included. i am sure there are less expensive options on the hotel train. it saves time and is inexpensive considering it is a night at a hotel and travel. look into it as an option to flying. it is a long train ride if done during the day. be safe, have fun. jeff
confirming the previous poster and you have option to take train, 2nd class. no shower but good enough to get you there. it leaves around 10 or 11 in the evening and arrives early in the morning.
