Could some one tell the real scoop on the Bavarian Ticket. Arriving in Munich on a Monday mid-morning, staying in city over night and sigtseeing. Trying to leaving Tuesday mid-afternoon for Garmisch area. Returning to Munich Friday evening flying out that night also. Any cheap suggestions?

On Monday, at the airport, purchase an MVV Gesamtnetz (all zones) Tageskarte. It's €10 for one person, €18 for a Partner Tageskarte, for 2-5 people. That will cover your trip from the airport to town as well as any travel on the local transport in Munich for the day. On Tuesday, purchase a Bayern-Ticket from an automat (€19 single, €27 2-5 people). You can use that for any local transport in Munich and then for the train to GaP. Also use the Bayern-Ticket for return to Munich and to the airport that day. Read about the B-T at www.bayern-takt.de.
