Train connection in Milan

Hello, Can anyone please help me. I will be travelling from Venice to Milan and train will arrive Milan at 10:55am. I have a connecting train to Zurich from Milan at 11:05 am. Is the 15 minutes connecting time possible? I will purchase all my tickets online as such I will no longer buy tickets from small kiosk at the station. I have never been to Milan and I have no idea as to how the platforms are arranged. Is this possible? Thank you in advance.

Looks like 10 minutes to me. That is the shortest transfer time I would be comfortable with. Just prepar yourself. Know where you are going when you arrive. Be first out the door. Hopefully you don't have a lot of luggage.

I just checked the timetables on the Trenitalia site and the German Rail site and found different times than the ones you gave. Leave Venezia Santa Lucia at 07:50 and arrive at Milano Centrale at 10:25. Leave Milano Centrale at 11:10 and arrive in Zuerich at 14:51. That gives you a 45-minute connection time.

Milano Centrale station has 24 tracks. All tracks deadhead into a main platform. It's the same way in Venice. When you change trains, you will exit your train from Venice, walk down your platform to the main platform, walk to your new platform and board your train. From what I see on Wikipedia, your train will arrive within the platforms 7-13 and your train to Zurich will depart within the platforms 4-6. Make sure you validate this information with information on the digital signboard at the main platform. Trains into and out of Milano Central are so frequent, you may not see your train posted on the digital signboard until 30 minutes before departure.

Happy, if the times you put on your OP, with barely 10 minutes, are actually the trains you propose, I would worry. Milano Centrale station isn't the easiest station to get around and it is often quite busy. I expect the times that Tim has found are likely correct in which case 45 minutes is loads and loads of time....

Hello again. Thank you for all the help. Oops, i'm sorry its not 10 mins but rather 15 minutes train connection time. Train will leave Milan for Zurich at 11:10am. The train Tim is proposing is the earlier train however it is quite pricey at 29 euro. I can get the second train from Venice which will arrive Milan at 10:55am for 9 Euro. Do you guys think its worth the risk? Thanks again for all your advises.

Interesting, if you check your schedule on trenitalia, going Venice to Zurich they want you to take the 7:50 am train. If you are buying separate tickets for each leg, you will not be protected if the train from Venice gets delayed. 20 Euros is 20 Euros, but I think the 29 Euro price is still a heck of a deal.
