Taking an unexpected quick trip to Belgium hoping to get on a fast train to Paris for one day. Question is will I need a eurail pass as well as a Thalys pass? It sounds like I may need a reservation on thalys is that true?

You just need a simple round trip ticket. Easily purchased at http://www.thalys.com you can even print the ticket out at home. All trains are reserved, to get the cheapest price it's essential to purchase ASAP, the Thalys train uses airline style pricing.
