Train booking error

Hi,

I was booking a train trip from Zurich to Innsbruck for a Rail Jet train for 2 travellers. While booking, I relied on the autofill feature of the Mac, but it booked both passengers as the same name and gender. The ticket was issued and this came to my notice post booking.

Is there any way I can get this changed via Rail Europe or Rail Jet. I have written to their contact emails, awaiting response. Has anyone ever experienced something similar.

Please advice.

Thanks

If you booked this through Rail Europe, their shopping cart normally does not allow you to enter duplicate names (even with different genders). However, point-to-point tickets often are issued with just one "lead traveler" name for the whole group, which sounds like the case here. The names don't matter and no change should be needed.

No one in the train business is running your name against the no fly list so no one really cares who's name is on the ticket as long as there are two adult tickets - you are good to go.

Did you book this through RailEurope or through Austrian Rail (which runs the Railjet)?

Have you received the ticket yet? All of my German Rail tickets (which have been SparPreis or Savings Fare tickets, have come with only one (my) first name and last initial on the ticket and the last four digits of my credit card used for the purchase.

Hi all,

Thanks for the reverts.

I have booked the ticket through Rail Europe website. And I have received a PDF of the ticket, where coach number and seat numbers have been allowed to both passengers. It is a point to point travel, Zurich to Innsbruck. Name against both seats is written my name, Ankit Jain. The other seat should have my wife's name there.

Hence, the worry.

It is absolutely nothing to worry about. Train tickets are not like airline tickets. They do not check names, gender, etc. for each passenger on the tickets. They just care that you have the correct number of people for the number of seats booked.

Thanks for the information guys!

I come from India. The railways here are completely government owned and the ticketing process is very stringent. If the name / age / gender does not match with your booking, you have to pay a hefty fine. Hence, the worry.
