Has anyone traveled by train between Paris and Munich? We'll have seven people in our group and thought that the train might be a more scenic and enjoyable route but don't know the situation on transfers, how long the trip takes, etc. Any advice or thoughts are appreciated.

If you are willing to pay top dollar, there is a 6:10 TGV/ICE connection from Paris to Munich, with one change of trains (9 minutes) in Stuttgart.

Last year my wife and I took the train from Paris to Salzburg, but the train went through Munich. It is an almost 12 hour trip. I would suggest a night train unless you really like to "ride the rails." The night train requires no changes, but stops alot.

If you book far enough in advance at http://buchung.nachtzugreise.de, you can get cheap SparNight fares on the direct night train.
