The train station ends at the water. Ask your hotel for recommendations concerning public transit -- water bus. The is a TI in the station that can help you. Buy a ticket, water to the bus stop, and get on bus to your hotel.

Julie, The simplest method to reach your Hotel from Venezia S.L. is to take a Vaporetto. When you walk out the front doors of the station, you'll immediately see the Grand Canal (there are a few steps to reach the water's edge). If you have a copy of the Italy Guidebook, there's a good description of which Vaporetto routes are the quickest. You might check the website for your Hotel, as that should indicate which Vaporetto stop is the closest. Happy travels!
