What is the best train to take from Paris to Nice? And is there a car rental nearby or at the train station or do we need to rent a car at the Nice airport? We will be flying out of Nice to return home after two weeks. Thank you.

there is only one real choice. The TGV (very fast train) from Paris Gare de Lyon. I like the early morning one, just after 7am.

According to Auto Europe, Avis, Hertz, Sixt, and Europcar have rental locations at Gare de Nice-Ville, the main station there. I believe that's where the TGV will take you.
