We recently received a notification from European Municipality Outsourcing that we had driven along "lanes for public transportation only" while we were in Florence last October and that we should send a fine of 92.45 euros. We don't know what that is all about and wonder if it is a scam of some sort. We have no recollection of such a violation. Does anyone have information or suggestions?
The old photo camera got you and your rental company ratted you out. Probably legit. Use the search box and you will find a dozen or more of these same questions. Ignoring them might not be the smartest action given that the rental company may have access to your credit card number.
Thanks for the reply. It is still a mystery to us because we remember carefully making our way to the parking at the train station so as to stay away from "forbidden zones."
FYI, for a good article on restricted driving zones in Florence and elsewhere in Italy (and how to avoid the problem,) see http://www.bella-toscana.com/traffic_violations_italy.htm. For a map of Florence's restricted zones, see http://www.bella-toscana.com/traffic/firenze_ztl_map.jpg
