Am looking at flights using United miles, and there's an option from SFO to Toronto on United, then connecting on Air Canada to Frankfurt (April). Will a 1 hour layover be enough time to make the connection? We'll be in business class, so will be the first off the United flight and will only have carry on bags. It's an afternoon flight out of SFO, so not too concerned about fog delays.

According to the airport's official website, http://www.torontopearson.com/Connecting_from_usa.aspx, you will have to go through Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). I don't know how long this will take, but I would certainly allow more than an hour. The real flying specialists hang out on http://www.flyertalk.com/ - I'd ask there, since the airport's website doesn't list official minimum connection times (at least, I couldn't find them).
