Open jaw from Charlotte, NC to Rome....Barcelona Spain back to Charlotte price of $771.......should I keep looking flight isn't until April 18?
Who knows?
But the price looks pretty good, especially since Rome and Barcelona seem to usually run a bit more than London, Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels, etc.
Option 1: buy now and kick yourself in the tail for not waiting.
Option 2: wait and kick youself in the tail for not buying now.
Option 3: there is no Option 3 in my experience.
How true..
Just an opinion, but if you know your dates for sure--$771 for the route that you want sounds pretty good compared to airfares last year. If it's non-stop, that's even better!
I agree, if these flights are non-stop, then that's a good deal.
no not none stop...2 stops each way! I've never done that before! Now some say that you should wait 4 months before to buy tickets. I really don't know what is a good price, I don't think I would feel comfortable waiting that long. Just thinking out loud I guess, we all want to do the right thing
Have you tried pricing these flights using Atlanta or even Baltimore or DC? You'll have more airlines flying these routes and perhaps fewer stops. That said, $771 seems like a pretty decent fare but two stops each way is tiring.
Atlanta is 4hours away but I'm going to check, thanks
yours is the eternal question. personally, i'd book it. but the above poster is right--you'll either be bummed that you paid 'too much' or bummed that you didn't get the 'good deal'. i purchased tickets jfk to london gatwick in april for a july flight, and i've yet to find prices as low as they were on that one random day (and we paid $695) but, of course, this is for high season travel. there are SO many variables--if you are comfortable with the price, book it. if you're not, wait. and let us know how whatever you decide works out! AND...most importantly...have a great time!
Tracy I did book it and I do feel comfortable with the price, I could always second guess myself because it is so early but at this point what does it matter, I'M GOING TO ITALY!
yay! i love your 'excited' caps! that's fantastic! our trip didn't become real to me, either, until we booked the flights--and i was actually shaking as i booked the tickets! though this could have been out of nervousness, as i was trying to book two people on the same out-going flight but on different return flights. congrats and have a fantastic trip! you have just given yourself the gift of ten months of trip planning--and that's the absolute best gift EVER!!!
Yay for booking! Just don't look at the prices, again. : ) I finally booked a few weeks back, and I refuse to price them, now. (PS- last time I bought, they just kept going up and up from when I bought, 7 months in advance.)
i still check--even though our tickets were purchased back in april. i've yet to find a cheaper price--even for the EXACT same flight (though, to be fair, i don't check that often). i just looked right now, in fact--before posting this--and the same flight is almost $200 more (per person--so $400 more total). and even if it wasn't, i'd still be happy with the price i paid--and i'll still have a great trip...as will you!
It might not be a bad idea if you DO continue checking...all of you. When you get back from your trip, maybe post and let us know where you were travelling and when, how far in advance you purchased, and whether you did see the rates go lower before your departure. That might help give us a baseline for future decision making.
Jo, you still have A LOT of time before your trip! I would keep looking, especially since you have 2 stops each way. That is very tiring, to echo another poster. There must be other flights from Charlotte to Rome and Barcelona to Charlotte that are nonstop. Even 1 stop is better than 2. Everyone has their own travel preferences, but I would rather pay more for a nonstop flight.
And I agree with Steve about ticket prices. I bought my ticket (RT nonstop Newark to Hamburg, July 7-26) about 6 weeks before my flight date (I didn't know that I'd be going until then; otherwise I wouldn't have waited so long!) on Kayak.com (the airline is Continental) and it cost $1,073. I don't think that's a bad price for a round-trip nonstop ticket at the height of the travel season. Like the other posters here, I've refused to look at prices after I bought it because I don't want to know if they've dropped! I also bought a separate round-trip ticket from St. Louis to Newark ($229), so the actual cost of my flight is about $1,300. I still don't think that's too bad for 2 round-trip nonstop flights, but I've never been good at buying bargain airline tickets!
