Toll and Tunnel costs Switzerland

Does anyone know the toll and tunnel costs from Zurich via Milan to Venice? I have heard that I need to buy some pass at the car rental at Zurich airport, but does it cover all toll costs in Switzerland?

There are no tolls in Switzerland. To drive there, your car requires a vignette sticker. If you're picking the car up in Zurich, it will almost certainly already have the required sticker. I think Italy requires tolls on their roads, but as I've never driven there, I'm not sure.

Hi, Tom is right about Switzerland and Italy does use toll booths. To find cost estimates, try www.viamichelin.com. Under "driving directions" put in your route. Use the "add a destination" or "add a stage" as many times as necessary to define your route more accurately. You'll get a more accurate travel distance and cost this way. Paul

Actually, you only need the vignette to drive on the Swiss autobahns. A friend of mine made it a point of honor not to drive on the autobahns but that can be a bit of a trial. The vignette costs 40 S Fr. and is good for one year. I would think it is very unklikely that you would find a rental car in Switzerland that does not already have one on it whether the rental car company or a previous renter bought it. Anyhow check for it when you pick up the car. Previous psoters are rioght that Via Michelin is very good for estimated toll costs in Italy.
