The new Paulaner beergarden opened in the new building above the airport's "long-distance train station" and is open from 11am until midnight every day. http://www.paulaner-thesquaire.de/en.html
And anyone - traveler or non-traveler - can access this, right?
Yes, it's land-side.
The Squaire is really cool looking. Very unique architecture. Lots of restaurants and stores there. The long distance train station is directly underneath. There is also a Paulaner behind the Kaiserdom in Frankfurt, and though they don't have any Frankfurt specialties on the menu, they do sell applewine.
Someone mentioned the cool architecture of the Squaire... one cool thing at the Paulaner Beergarden is that if you look up, landing planes come right over the glass roof. I had about 6 hours to kill at Franfurt airport this morning on a layover between India and the States. I started by burning some calories and cleaning up at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel, which has day passes to their health club (and very frequent shuttles from the airport). I then came back to the airport and consumed a lot more calories than I'd burnt at this beer garden. A good way to spend some time between long flights.
Road trip!
(and airplane...)
After checking out the menu, the prices are surprisingly good - not the usual airport mark-up.
Now I need to make the cross-town trek to buy my favorite weißwurst...
