Time from Toledo to Madrid airport

I would like to spend my last couple days in Toledo. Can I take an 8:00 am train from Toledo (approx 30 min?) to Madrid then navigate the Metro to the airport for an 11:30 departure? I know the terminal is important know in advance.

It can be done, but may be very very tight. The 25 Minutes from Toledo to Atocha is no problem - the train will be on time and then the fun will begin. If you can get immediately to the taxi area (you must know which exit to take, there are serveal!) and the taxi can get out into the traffic, it will take approximately 1 hour to the airport. It may be a bit less or a bit more, depending on the traffic. There is also a metro underground line, which should take less time, but if you are not familiar with it, it can be a definite hassle, especially during the time frame you will be traveling. You must also allow time to get the ticket, safety inspections, etc. and arrive at the gate per the specific instructions of the airline. I would not count on everything clicking just as it should for you to get there, and I love Toledo myself and would want to stay as long as possible.

H J- Thanks for all the info. Its a shame that the Metro at the train station does not go to the airport. In fact, it looks like the train statin metro and the airport metro do not directly intersect at any station. That's why I was concerned.

You can take the metro train from Atocha Renfe to the Barajas airport. There is one change along the way. Elevators and escalators are at the transfer stop. Check the airport web site and you will find the route there. But, there is a fairly long hike from the airport stop to your terminal most likely. check the www.metromadrid.es site for details. It states 48 minutes travel time. The "change" station is Nuevos Ministerios. The train on which you leave Atocha Renfe is in a different location than the one arriving from Toledo, and you will need to ask directions as you exit the Ave from Toledo. I have done this, but do not remember the route!

Assuming it's an international flight, you need to be at the airport three hours prior to departure. The math doesn't work. Wishing won't make it so.

The new airport bus from Atocha to the airport is easy. It takes 40 minutes to T4, less to the others. It leaves from just outside the station, between the arrivals and departures sections, every 15 minutes. I do not agree with the 3 hours time for an international flight. We left our hotel today at 11 am, walked to the bus stop at Atocha, and were at the airport and through security about 1.5 hours ahead of our 2:00 flight.
