Hello I am wondering how long it takes to travel by train from Chamonix to Paris. Do trains leave Chamonix on a regular basis throughout the day? Any help appreciated. Thank you! Patrick

There are departures every hour that require two changes to reach Paris.

Hello Michael Thank you for your help....I am wondering if I need to make advance reservations or is it safe to get tickets the day of departure. (August 26 in the AM.) Any further help appreciated. Patrick

You're welcome. A portion of journey uses the high-speed TGV trains. These trains use airline style pricing, so the sooner you book (90 days allowed) the cheaper it will. You should be able to get tickets on the day of your journey, but you will be paying the highest fare.

Thank you again, Michael! I went to the site you noted and I saw that The United States is note listed as country of ticket receipt....and you cannot apparently get e-tickets from the US. Is there another site where that is possible? I hope I get to meet you one day so I can buy you a drink! Thanks again. PAtrick

You can't get etickets, but it should give you the option of picking up your tickets at the station by presenting the credit card you used to purchase the tickets.
