I am flying from Boston to Zurich going through Amsterdam. The time between the two flights is either one hour fifteen minutes or one hour and fifty minutes. Are either of these times between flights sufficient for me to change flights?
If I had to choose one, I would go for the 1:50 layover. If your plane from Boston is late then you might miss your connection. Are you flying on one itinerary? If you are and the first plane is late, they would have to find another flight for you.
Definitely take the longer one. An hour and 15 minutes to go through passport control, security and check in for your next flight is very short.
Yes, if you miss the flight, and it's all on one airline or booking, you will be put on the next available flight. Only who knows when the next available flight may be.
Frank II is right. You will not be put on the next flight, just the next AVAILABLE flight. The next flight might be full. They aren't going to boot someone off the next flight so you can have their seat. If you don't care how much time you have to spend at the airport waiting for another flight if you miss the first one, then you could take a gamble and see what happens.
I've been a bit nervous about my connecting flight to Paris being on time. I was told there were other flights after mine (if it was late); however, what I wasn't told is that all of them that day were not direct to Paris. I ended up booking an earlier flight so I don't have to worry about the short connection time.
