We (2 adults with carry on luggage) will be traveling from Roma Termini to the Civitavecchis Port in August. We have 3 days in Rome before traveling to the port for our cruise. Is it best to prepurchase our train tickets online or purchase them once we are in Rome?

Almost all of the very frequent train are regional trains that are always the same price of 4.60 EUR per person. Some make more stops than others, so travel time is anywhere from 1 hour to 1 hour and 23 minutes. There is no advantage to buying these in advance.
There are also a couple of IC trains that make only 1 other stop and take 48 minutes and cost more, and can be discounted when bought in advance for a nonrefundable ticket.
