Ticket from DE Bahn site

Hi all, hoping you can help decode my ticket.

I purchased a Prague - Berlin ticket through Bahn.de site and just recieved it in the mail.

I paid for the ticket and a reservation. The ticket came and an attached letter, so you can rip the ticket off on the bottom. What conerns me is the ticket does not have the time or a seat # on it.

The attached letter has the date and time but I'm not sure if it says what the seat # is.

It looks like this:

26.05.2008 EC 176, Praha hl.n. (ab 0825) - Berlin Hbf, 2.KL., Wg. 257, Pl. 31, Grobraum, Nichtraucher, 1 Fenster,

Can anyone tell me what this means or where it says my seat #.

Thanks

Wg possibly means Wagen (car) and Pl possibly means platz (seat).

Grobraum: could that be grossraum? (double Ss in German look like the Greek letter Beta) If so, it's possibly one of those cars with the little rooms down the hallway. Nichtraucher: no smoking. Not sure what Fenster means...

Fenster means "Window" auf Deutsch.

Großraum means it is a large open car with "aircraft type" seating, she has seat 31, apparently next to the window. She is in car 257 on EuroCity 176, seat 31, leaving Prague at 8:25 (or after) for Berlin. And, oh yeah, non-smoking.

Thanks so much for clearing up my confusion.

But should I be concerned that this info is in the letter rather than on the ticket?

The ticket pretty much just says Prague - Berlin.

I will keep the ticket and letter together when I go to hopefully advoid any confusion.

I'm just curious why you did the mail delivery vs. print it out on your computer? I will be buying tickets this week so I wonder what is best?

Oh, yeah. Maybe not on some trains, but I think it is possible on others. I just went to Bahn.de and tried to book on the CNL night train from Munich to Venice, selected the home print option, and it let me get as far as putting in my name, address, etc. In fact, I think it is only "open" tickets that cannot be printed out at home.

Correct CNL tickets can indeed be printed out at home. Probably because they use the same crew during the entire journey.

Michael,
I think it is only the train specific (promotional?) tickets that are self-printable. These tickets are for a specific train, so it is easier to track their use.

Since her train starts in Praque, there was not a promotional "Europa-Spezial" ticket available, only standard tickets. However, from Berlin to Praque, there was a Europa-Spezial fare available, train specific, non-refundable, and self-printable.

Standard tickets are valid on any train, for a period of days. It would be easier for someone to print and use the ticket multiple times, so they use the mail so only one ticket is generated.
