Thello Train Service

We (three women)are considering booking on the Thello train from Venice to Paris and I'd love to hear about peoples RECENT experiences. I've seen a number of reviews regarding sleeper trains, but it is difficult to determine if the contributor is speaking specifically of the Thello and I couldn't find any that are less than a year old. We are planning to get a 3-person cabin and we can sleep anywhere, so noise and movement are not an issue. I am interested in experiences with safety, cleanliness of cabins and bathrooms and availability of food. We'd also love to hear about other sleeper train options as well

My sons and I took the Thello from Paris to Verona in July and we had a three person cabin. We enjoyed the experience. Thello is using older equipment, so the trains are not particularly plush. The cabin was fairly clean, the bathrooms were clean but very basic. We took the suggestion of "The Man in Seat 61" Seat61.com and ate in Gare De Lyon before boarding the train. There was a dining car with a bar and sit down dining. I tried the bar, but not the dining. We never felt like there was a safety problem on the train. I would suggest that you be ready to dive off the train when it reaches your stop. I think they were running late, so the stop they made in Verona was really short and we didn't get off in time. We went to the next stop and came back on another train. All in all, we'd do it again.
