FYI The quickest route to much of England is a bus from the Airport . I took a bus to Cerdiff from LHR and was there much quicker then the train and much cheaper

You can order and print tix for National Express buses (coaches)in advance online. You can get discounts this way. If you are flying into LHR, you will be wise to allow plenty of time from the time the plane is supposed to land until the time of the bus reservation. While there are many coaches to Bath, for instance, some of them will be full already if you don't have a reservation. The LHR bus depot is upgraded and easy to use, but it's still not a fun place for waiting around. You can buy coffee and snacks in the bus depot. For transit into London I think the Tube or Heathrow Connect (train) would get you there quicker from LHR.
