The London Underground with Oyster Card worked well for us last week.
- Lowers the cost.
- Don't get mired in above ground traffic.
- There's even a little RS sized book you can read while you're trying to ignore your neighbor (apparently considered polite on the Tube), The Little Book of the London Underground. Will take you about a week of Tube rides to finish it.
