I had to laugh. This was SO me, just yesterday and it was for a domestic flight.

I get very anxious when trying to check everything before I hit "purchase".

When we all flew for my mom's services, apparently I did was one number off on my husband's Global information. Going through security we all got separated, found each other, but were still looking for my husband. He was in the Pre line, then with my mistake he had to go back to the regular line. He was a smart man and did not say anything to me;)

I'm even more careful now. I was was making reservations for my my daughter and her spouse, checking so many things including scheduling them for different return flights. When pop-up menu came up for passengers, I chose her maiden name, not her married name. Ooops. "Only" been married 10 years. It was a big hassle for them at the airport :(

Pulling the trigger always makes me feel a little sick!

Although I mostly book my own trips, sometimes I will get my sister-in-law, who is a travel agent, to book my plane tickets. Somehow it feels a little "safer" when she does it although I could do it myself on the Delta app. She is very reassuring and it helps to have that professional set of eyes on it so I KNOW there are no mistakes (and yes I have been known to make mistakes even when I've checked and double checked!)

Ha ha, katiecem—that's funny! Although I doubt your daughter thought so at the time. That's where it's beneficial to actually keep the name you were born with. My daughter never changed her name when she got married, so I've never had that problem. :-)

I appreciate the topic and the term is one I used to use a few decades ago.

But with all the violence in the world the title of the topic makes me both sad and angry.

Nothing personal - my visceral reaction.

A different society.

Raw after certain wars and "actions" as well just 2 days after Graz Austria, not far from where I was heading for.

You are my people. Buying an airline ticket: Excitement temporarily disguised as terror.

It can be especially nerve-racking when using European time such as 20:00 which is 8 pm to those of us in the US, not 10:00 pm as my sister discovered after having pressed "Enter"! Literally, five minutes later, the airline would not refund or apply her fares to 22:00 for the three tickets.

Hahahaha....so funny and SO TRUE!

Thanks for the laughs, Mike! BUT you forgot that you have to go back obsessively to check you've done everything right!

Exactly!
Even for the cheapest pre-booked train ticket!

But….once you’ve pulled those triggers, shut your eyes and never look at prices again, especially airline fares!

Or day before month instead of month/day, or calendars that start on Monday instead of Sunday, and in a different language so you don't know if it's says Sunday or Monday...

A fun post! You put a smile on my face. This process is repeated many times when planning an overseas trip for two. Then a go back and double check on the reservations again. This process is repeated for air, bus, train and room reservations.

Oh good, we're all nuts here. I sometimes feel this even buying a museum or train ticket.

He...he...so much YES! But I do try to check all the details again within the 24-hour 'grace' window to make sure all the details are correct.

I especially feel this moment of joy when I find the flight with frequent flier miles! I recently "remembered" I had some American Airlines miles (I usually just have Alaska) and stopped into their website to check for a flight home from a RS Tour next spring. So happy to discover a routing was available with the miles that I had and would otherwise be expiring later in the year.

Don’t forget to double-check the currency.

I found a great rate for our trip to Italy, thought about it for a few days, then decided to pull the trigger. Yes, I did the dance Mike described only to wonder why it was taking so long to receive authorization on my credit card. Then the alert came on my phone that my card was being charged…..WAY over what I was expecting. I had purchased the tickets in Euros instead of dollars.

Lesson learned.
