The Britrail Pass...

First time Britrail.. and first time on a train.. EVER!

When our Britrail FlexiPasses arrived in the mail I was expecting more of a hard plastic kind of card, but instead it's more like a thin paper airplane boarding ticket.

Did/does anyone else feel a bit paranoid about keeping this delicate piece of paper as their somewhat expensive and important transportation document?

Hi Tina--I keep any railpass worth $$$ in a "ziploc" bag in my money belt except when going to the train station when I keep it easily accessible in my day pack, so I can validate if necessary. After the conductor has checked it, I go into the bathroom to put it in my money belt unless I'll need it again soon or for another train. I've never had any problems and I've been traveling trains in Europe since I was 11--and I was alone.

I carried my paper RR pass for 6 weeks without problem. Treat it just like currency. Keep it in your waist pouch or neck pouch. It will be safe.
