I just want to thank all those who have reported on travel by air for the past three years. My husband and I have just booked flights to and from Zurich mid-Spring. Because of the information gleaned on this forum I knew to check flights on a regular basis. The flights were booked last Sunday, just one week ago.
In that short time the return flights changed. I felt the flight from Zurich to Philadelphia with one connection to our home airport was good good to be true. And it was. We now fly Zurich to Philadelphia to Charlotte and then back to the northern midwest home airport. Despite having the American Airlines app and checking we wanted to be notified of changes, we were not notified. I did my research before contacting the airline. There were no good alternatives for same day flights from Philadelphia to our home airport. The connection time in Charlotte is 32 minutes which we were told is a legal connection. I am not too hopeful this will happen. Seems to me the best case would be missing the flight to Charlotte. However the connection time in Philadelphia is 3 hours 50 minutes, so that doesn't seem too likely. The next day there is a direct flight from Philadelphia to our "home" airport. And at this time that is the only direct flight.
Anyway, the point is I am grateful to all who have shared their stories of these situations. Because of you I knew to check flights regularly. I knew to anticipate changes. I wish I could say I was calm when my flights changed to an extra connection with a short connection time. I wasn't. But I hope to be when the next changes happen. And I feel confident there will be more changes before our trip which is 91 days out.
