Can you get cheap walk up fares on Thalys or is the internet the way to go? I see they have some last minute fare sales depending upon location and availability. Is it possible to use all IC trains to go between large cities internationally cheaper?

It's a gamble...on the day you wish travel the last minute fares my or may not be available. If price is more important than flexibility in your travels, then you should book ASAP via the Thalys.com website. If you wish you can take only IC trains on most routes, but this sometimes requires that you go a bit out of your way and change trains more frequently to get to your final destination....but it is cheaper and allows more flexibility.
