Thalys Train Tickets should I wait?

I have been trying to purchase a train ticket from Amsterdam to Paris for 21 May 2022. I finally contacted Thalys and received the following message:
"Due to engineering works on the railway network on May 21st and 22nd ticket sale will be closed until further notice."
I was told they would notify me when ticket sales became available. Should I wait in the hope that will happen or go ahead and purchase a airline ticket? I am meeting the My Way France Tour in Paris on the 24th and was hoping to spend a few days in Paris on my own before the tour.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Sounds like they are doing track work on the weekend. ( Sat & Sun) I would not expect any tickets to become available for those dates

Thank you. I have never flown in Europe only the transatlantic flight to get there. Any suggestions on airlines for a quick one way flight from Amsterdam to Paris?

I have used Transavia before on that route. It is owned by Air France KLM and like a Southwest a budget airline. It is a short flight 1 hour 20 minute direct flight to Paris Orly (ORY) and then you can either take the metro or a taxi into Paris. The flight bought now would probably be about the same cost or less than the train Thalys believe or not. I see a direct flight at 9:45 am on May 21 for $52 1 free carry on bag https://www.transavia.com/

Just wait, I would expect tickets to become available as soon as they know how it will impact the schedule. May is still far away.

Kathleen,

I was having the same issue traveling from Brussels to Paris in June on a Saturday. One option (at least from Brussels) is to take the TGV. Not direct but it gets you there. I opted to take an evening Thales train to Paris on Friday and added a night to our hotel there.
