I need to purchase 5 fares from Cologne-Paris Nord for July 2nd. Am I understanding the Thalys website correctly that our best bet would be to purchase the Smoove fares, 2nd class, which are 25 euros pp? I think they aren't available until April 2-ish - 90 days out? Is pre-purchase necessary? Anything else I'm missing? Thanks.

So,purchasing 90 days out rather than 30 is advisable? Does ticketless mean I will get an email confirmation? They ask for a mobile number which is not the mobile # I will have overseas....

Not only will the Smoove fares sell out, they will do so very quickly so book as soon as the 90-day window opens. The longer you wait, the higher the fare.
You cannot choose ticketless unless you have the right kind of phone. Choose paper ticket and print the tickets yourself.
