I would like to book a Thalys Mini fare from Amsterdam to Paris in May but cannot figure out how to work the site. The cheapest fare it gives me is 105 Euros. I tried to call but can't find a number for the Netherlands. I am calling from Canada and the number for France does not have an english speaking option. Any tips?
There may not be any mini fare tickets left for the day you are putting in. they only sell a limited amount of those...try another date.
I could not find a NL number either, but here is a Belgian one: +32 (0)2 548 06 00. They seem to have more English in Belgium than in France.
Good luck!
The above poster is right - the mini fare should just show up among your choices if it is available. I just bought one yesterday for Brussels to Paris and it was quite easy to find the tickets and print them out.
Assuming the Mini fares are gone, you may still be able to get a Smilys fare--if they aren't sold out, too. This is a return (roundtrip) ticket that is cheaper than a single (one-way) ticket. It's 70€ rather than 105€. It's only sold as a return so book an arbitrary return date and throw away the unused portion.
