Thalys Booking Problem

Hello all... I have searched (this site) far and wide, and cannot seem to find an answer to this problem - so I write.

I have been trying to book a ticket on that Thalys site for both Amsterdam to Brussels and Brussels to Paris (July 4, July 7), and have tried using both the Dutch and Belgian Thalys sites, and everything has gone smoothly, including getting some great rates (E35 and E25). Except for my credit card.

Each time, on two completely seperate bookings, I have had "Payment denied". I called my CC company, and they said that not only were they not denied by them, but that there had been no requests for payment. Anyone know what's going on? Should I make a new username on the site and try over again? See if it works second time through...?

Thanks for your help!

I don't know what is going on with your CC problems, the only thing I can recommend is using a different card might help. Make sure you are using www.thalys.com and if the site asks you where you live or where you are picking up your tickets, say "France"; you may have to clear out the cookies on your browser. But don't use Thalys from Amsterdam to Brussels. It is cheaper and easier to simply use the regular inter-city train on this stretch. They run at 15 minute intervals, are almost as fast, and don't require any advance reservations. The one-way second class fare is about 30 euros and all you have to do is buy your tickets right before you board the train. From Brussels to Paris the only direct service is via Thalys; no IC trains on this stretch.

I recommend you do as Michael suggested, and use the www.thalys.com website, clear the cookies from your browser, enter France as your country, and chose the option to print your tickets at home. This worked for me a few weeks ago when I bought E25 one-way tickets from Paris to Brussels on the Thalys train.
