TGV train from Paris to Turin

I am in the very early stages of planning a trip which my husband wants to visit Normandy. From there, we will go onto northwest Italy for a few days and then head over to the Dolomites. I wanted to go from Paris (Gdelyon) to Torino via train for the scenery, but if we take the high speed train, will we actually be able to view the area? Also, I looked at both the Trenitalia.com website and SCNF websites for ideas on the cost. The Trenitalia was almost triple the cost with 2 changes while the Oui website was one train direct. I’ve never used the oui website before, am I correct in this difference? Even though this won’t happen for a few weeks, do I need to register to get the tickets? I will definitely get the exchangeable one for just a few euros more. I was looking in October, just to get an idea, although this trip won’t happen until May. Maybe I can hear from someone who has taken this route before, just to get an idea. Thank you in advance!!

Yes, it runs on the LGV to Lyon, then on older and slower tracks across the alps. So during the scenic parts, you will be able to enjoy the scenery.

As Badger said, the train is not actually high speed in Italy (in fact modernization of the line is a hot political topic for the parties in power in Italy).

My husband is from Turin and we live in Paris and visit his parents in Turin a couple of times a year, so I have taken this train many times. You shouldn’t have any changes, it is about 5 hours 40 minutes direct from Paris Gare de Lyon to Torino Porta Susa.

Purchase your tickets from oui.sncf, loco2.com, or Trainline. I am not sure why Trenitalia is showing two changes!

I don’t think of the route as particularly scenic.
