TGV site Error? Geneva to Venice

Hi!

I plan to a buy a 4 day Swiss pass for our trip from Lucerne to Alps this September.

So for our 5th day of travel we need to get from Geneva to Venice. I checked the TGV site and it had a SMART PRICE for €29 and normal fare for €90. Both are non-stop trips BUT are already booked! It's over 75 days ahead and the fares are still showing on the site? I emailed TGV and they said replied prices are subject to availbility. Should I keep checking TGV site over the next few weeks or go with SBB site for €140.

Do you recommend another way to get from Geneva to Venice or is SBB the best option? 5 day swiss flexi pass Geneva to Milan?

thanks

According to skyscanner.com there are no budget airlines that fly directly from Geneva to Venice.

Like tgv-europe.com, the SBB site also says that the discount fare tickets are gone for dates about 75 days from now. However, the standard fare of 140 is in Swiss francs, not euro. Converted to euro it is 103 EUR. I suggest that you book with SBB. Retrieving a ticket booked on tgv-europe.com for travel that doesn't start in France is complicated.

For Geneva-Milan a Swiss flexipass would only cover you as far as the Swiss border. You'd have to buy a regular ticket to get from the border to Milan.

Thanks Tim! I'll be in Paris the first 4 days of my trip if I need to get any TGV pass. I think were on tgv from Paris to Basel then validate our swiss pass then on to lucerne.

I might just go ahead and get the sbb from Geneva to Venice for 140 rather than get the 5 day Flexi pass. Nonstop is still available for €90 on tgv but stops in mestre, will need to pay extra anyway to get to St Lucia station.

Does this like a good plan?

You're welcome, Salsachica.

The train in question stops at Mestre and then goes on to Santa Lucia. Same fare: 90 EUR. Buy your ticket when you first arrive in Paris for 90 EUR rather than from SBB for 140 CHF (103 EUR). Or if you don't want to take the chance that the train might sell out because you're traveling on a weekend during the height of the tourist season, then book now on the SBB site.
