TGV reservation issues

Hi: I tried to book a couple of legs for our upcoming trip on the TGV website but I got a "payment refusal" notice. With 3 different cards. After I called to make sure the CC would let me allow me to book. Anyone ever have this issue? There was a FAQ statement but it didnt make sense. I would really appreciate some help! Thanks so much

Hi Tom: Thanks for the page. I followed all the directions, carefully, and still got the same issue. Payment was refused. I sent an email to TGV but haven't heard back yet. Ugh. If anyone else has any suggestions I'd be grateful. Thanks.

It is possible they are in the midst of rate change. On the Bahn you could not buy tickets online, temporarily, or get ticket prices after a certain date, but not the changes are in effect and the site is working. Just a thought.

We just returned from France. For two legs of our journey, we purchased PREM discounted tickets on the TGV. We did this online. No problems with the purchase, We were able to print out the tickets at home and they worked just fine on the train.

Call your CC company again. We've had to do that more than once to get them to free up a card for overseas purchases. Stay on the line until the clerk tells you your card is open for overseas purchases. Tell them SPECIFICALLY what you are buying, ie train tickets, or any other specific purchases like theater tickets, museum passes, or hotel rooms. They can be dense at times.

Have you cleared cookies between attempts?

So I re-called 2 of the CC companies who assured me it wasnt them not letting me purchase anything overseas. Then I deleted my entire history (cookies and all). Still didnt work. I even tried it from a different computer using different internet connection and different provider even. Anyone have a magic wand to wave over my webpage??

I have bought advance tix for TGV using iDTGV.com. Look for "promotions." I don't recall having any problems last year. I probably used a Chase Visa credit card. I was able to print out my tickets at home. Good luck.

This is SO familiar. We went through this last year and found out there is a limit to how much you can charge per week on TGV. We broke our reservations into two segments and did them a week apart and were fine. We were traveling as two couples and tried to book all the tickets together. We broke it out so that we were booking just as one couple and then did one segment per week. That worked and was even better once we learned that "voiture" meant the number of our train car when it came to the option for choosing seats. Also, the other couple lost the credit card they used for their reservation. When we got to Paris, they had to buy a new ticket using a current card and were promised a refund to their card in two months. The refund showed up exactly two months later almost to the day!

You will likely have to secure an additional password for your credit card account, either Verified By Visa or Mastercard Secure Code. You can do this online for no cost and it will not affect your use of the card.
