We will be traveling from Paris to Normandy, and from Normandy to Saint Remy Provence. We would like to have a car in both the Normandy area as well as Provence, and would like to take the TGV to Provence. We're not opposed to driving from Paris to Normandy and back. What is the smartest way to travel to these areas?
There aren't any through trains from Normandy to Provence. If you take the train all the way you will have to cross Paris by metro from St Lazare to Gare de Lyon, which can be done in one step on Line 14. However, if you still think that's too much work it might be worth driving to Paris, if your company has a drop-off point near Gare de Lyon.
One possiblity, if you will be spending any time in Paris, is to reorder your itinerary so that you visit Paris second. So on your first day you drive or take the train to Normandy, then go Normandy > Paris > Provence. You can fly home from Marseilles, perhaps.
We're all dialed in. Sept 8 LAX to Paris, Sept 12 to Normandy. Sept 14 to Saint Remy, and Sept 18 to Nice spending the last night Sept 21 in Paris to stroll and say au revoir to France! I just can't figure out the best way to get to Normandy from Paris, and how to get back to Paris from Normandy to take the early afternoon TGV to Provence.
