Do the above sites have the same prices? I had checked TGV about 6 weeks ago for a price for a 3 berth sleeper on an overnight train from Rome to Paris and got the amount of 218 euros, now it's coming up at 375 euros. My ISP doesn't allow me to access the Trenitalia site, so I can't ck the price with them. Just wondering if they're the same.
For a bed in a 3-person sleeper the Trenitalia site shows a Flexi fare of €160, a Switch fare of €135, and a Go fare of €125.
The tgv-europe site shows a Flexi fare of €160 and a Depart Plus fare of €125.
To get a discount fare you need to book well in advance (up to 90 days allowed.) However, the Trenitalia site does not accept US credit cards.
You can book on the tgv-europe site, but you cannot pick up your tickets at an Italian station. You have to choose Italy as your country of residence and have the tickets mailed to an Italian address (like your hotel). Note: When you choose Italy, the site will switch to Italian; but it's not hard to figure out what to enter in the booking fields.
