I was under teh impression that you could not book trains in Italy on TGV europe.com (ie venice-florence). It brings up the schedule and says that this information is for information only or something. I choose the train, it gives seat numbers and allows me to go through with a dummy booking up to the piont of entering a CC.
So does this mean they will accept and ship the tickets out since TGV does ship tickets to Canada.
bluedenim,
One important point to note is that the TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse) is operated by the French Railway system, so not sure why their website would be selling tickets for that train to operate in Italy?
The "fast" trains from Venice to Florence will be the EuroStar Italia. If you're specifically looking for trains on that route, you might want to check the www.ferroviedellostato.it/homepage_en.html website.
Cheers!
ya that is what I was looking at was teh fast train.
I too am a bit confused as to why it seems they are selling tickets as well.
bluedenim,
Are you trying to pre-purchase tickets for the trains?
It's just as easy (and usually cheaper) to just buy them in Europe at the station a few days before you'll be travelling.
ya but my travel partner is worried about strikes and wants to book the train that is protected....
6:36 am!
I just did a dummy booking at tgv-europe.com for Venezia Santa Lucia-Firenze, using Canada as the country to which tickets should be mailed. It worked for me.
I decided to email as I was totally under the impression they only sold french trains basically.
