taxis in Barcelona & Venice

I need to know if it's more cost-effective to take a cab from BCN to the cruiseport, and also from the cruiseport to VCE rather than purchasing transfers.

Taxi in Barcelona should be about 30 Euro to the port, including baggage charge and Airport supplement.

The cruise port in Venice adjoins the Piazzale Roma which is a major bus, vaporetto and taxi location. There are two bus lines that will take you directly from the Piazzale Roma to the Venice Marco Polo airport. The runs are frequent. The bus lines are ACTV (www.actv.it) and ATVO (www.atvo.it) Fares will not exceed 6 Euro. You don't need to purchase transfers if they are more than that.

I think the cruise dock in Barcelona is near the end of the Ramblas, which is a short walk from the metro, which goes to the airport with 1 transfer. Here's a map. I think the cruise dock is near the Drassanes stop... line 3, near the bottom middle of the map. Airport's on the left side.

The Barcelona Metro does NOT go to the airport. The line on the map posted is a RENFE rail line, which runs to Sants station, quite a bit northwest of the Placa Catalunya at the head of the Ramblas. The Drassanes metro stop is also nowhere near walking distance, with luggage, from the cruise ship docks. From the port to the lower Ramblas (the Drassanes metro stop) a cab should be about 10-15 Euro. From the airport, a cheaper alternative would be the Aerobus to Placa Catalunya, then metro and cab, or cab....but only if you have time, and one bag each....if more, splurge for the taxi (or the transfer if you find one at a good price.)

The airport transfer from BCN to the cruiseport is $54 each based on two travelers.
The $39 each is a private transfer based on a group of six people traveling together.
I found this on a website of a private transfer company.

Princess Cruiseline quoted me $39 pp for a transfer in Barcelona.

The cruiseport to VCE transfer is $55 each.

Those are the quotes from the cruiseline.

I am also interested in VCE-cruise ship transfer and ship to BCN.

The quote I have from HAL is $85pp VCE to ship and $49pp ship to BCN. Your rates are quite a bit lower. What line are you using?

Hi Marcia,

Those quotes were from Princess.

We wound up scrapping that itenerary and booked a round trip cruise out of Rome on Royal Carribean instead.

Checkout the map link provided by Paul from Chicago to get an idea where the cruise port is located in proximity to the BCN airport.

Also, Larry provided a link for the bus line in Venice from the nearby plaza to Marco Polo.
I couldn't get the actv link to work, but the ATVO link did work.
Much cheaper than what the cruise lines skin passengers for.
